Postal Services
The University Postal Service provides efficient mail and package receipt for students, administration, faculty and staff of Virginia State University. The Post Office is located in the basement of Johnston Memorial Library.
Hours of Operation
Customer Service hours 8:30 am to 6:00 pm Monday thru Friday during the Fall and Spring semester. Summer hours are Monday thru Friday 8:30 am to 5:00pm. Phone number : (804) 524-5010.
General Information
Mail and packages arrive according to the scheduling of the individual carriers. We process mail and packages as they are received. We will send a confirmation to your VSU email once the package has been processed. The confirmation email comes from noreply@sqbxmail.com. You are encouraged to wait until you receive the confirmation email before coming to the Post Office to retrieve your items. If you do not receive a confirmation email on the day your package arrives come to our customer service window for further assistance. Please bring your tracking number and any other pertinent information that you may have in reference to your item.
Services
We provide official outgoing mailing services for the University only. If you wish mail outgoing personal items please visit www.usps.com or www.ups.com. Feel free to contact VSU Postal Services for assistance and additional support.
Large Mailings
Before producing a large or specialized mailing, include the Postal Services Supervisor in your mailing arrangements to ensure your mailing program is timely and cost effective.
Advance notice is required to effectively handle and process large or specialized mailings. Large mailings are considered any mailing consisting of 1,000 or more pieces. The advance notice is required to insure sufficient people are on hand to process the mailing.
Outgoing Personal Mail
Outgoing personal mail may be deposited at the post office or the drop box located across from the bookstore.
Incoming Personal Mail
All mail addressed to our physical address is the property of Virginia State University until it has been released to the addressee by VSU Postal Staff. Please do not have items that could potentially violate Student Code of Conduct sent to the school. Postal Services is not equipped to handle refrigerated items and does not assume liability for those items if damaged. If you have medicines that require refrigeration being sent to the school please notify the Post Office in advance of having the items shipped. The Post Office will make reasonable accommodation on a case by case when notified in advance of receipt of refrigerated items.
