University Risk Management Office (URMO) provides leadership and services that strengthens accountability and regulatory compliance and facilitates the assessment of risks and management strategies in support of the University's mission.
The URMO will enhance the University's culture of risk management by providing exceptional services through communication, collaboration, and stewardship that fosters excellence in the learning and working environment.
The URMO assists in the development of new policies and the revision of existing policies that affect the Virginia State University community. While the URMO is responsible for maintaining the policy document's integrity and guiding the development of a policy, responsibility for its content resides with the responsible executive, typically within the unit of Vice President's area.
The URMO provides a number of services to assist the policy development process:
- A policy tool kit that includes several standard documents and further guidance in policy development
- A policy template that offers an easy-to-read document that is consistent with other university policy documents
- An established, rigorous process for reviewing policy drafts that involves seasoned professional and affected stakeholders at all levels of the university, and across functions and campus
- An easily accessible, visitor-friendly website that houses all official Finance department policies, which helps build awareness and compliance
