Mission Statement
The mission of the Department of Student Conduct is to support the goals and objectives of the Division of Student Affairs by providing effective and timely coordination of the adjudication of student conduct matters, supervise staff and ensure that day-to-day operations are handled appropriately. Ultimately, the Department of Student Conduct is to support the University’s compliance with and fulfillment of SACS accreditation criteria, VSU’s Mission, Master/Strategic Plan, and CAS Professional Standards (Student Development Services).
Principles
To provide supervision for the adjudication of student conduct matters, pre-hearings, appropriate panel selections and serve as administrative hearing officer. To provide appropriate training for all faculty, staff and students who are involved in determining the outcome of violations of the VSU Student Code of Conduct. To provide punitive community service sites for and monitor payment of fines by student offenders. To provide seminars and workshops designed to assist students in understanding behavior and conflict management. To provide the insurance that the VSU Greek fraternities and sorority organizations are operating within established guidelines. To provide supervision of the Student Parking Appeals and the Freshmen Parking Approval processes.
