Homecoming 2023 Information and Guidelines

Parking Information

As Virginia State University (VSU) and the Department of Athletics continue to enhance the campus and its facilities, the speed of service is also a top priority for our Trojan alumni and fans. To improve the VSU game day experience, beginning September 9, 2023, Rogers Stadium will only accept cashless payments for parking.

Credit cards, debit cards, and contactless payments will be the only payment accepted for game day parking, including Homecoming 2023.

VSU Athletics strongly encourages spectators to arrive two (2) hours before kick-off to avoid long wait times. To alleviate the stress of purchasing a ticket on game day, we urge you to purchase a season game pass (that includes parking) for $125 or a season parking pass for $50.

Contact the Assistant Athletic Director for Business Operations, Vincent Greene, Jr., at 804-524-5656 to purchase season passes or visit www.govsutrojans.com for more information.

Vendor Information

VSU will host its annual Vendors’ Bazaar starting on Friday, October 13th, 2023, from 12:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. and Saturday, October 14th, 2022, from 9:00 A.M. to 7:30 P.M. We invite you to participate in one of the largest events in the Tri-Cities yielding over 30,000 attendees over the course of two days.

Location Closures Near and On Campus

Virginia State University has announced significant changes to this year's Homecoming events due to traffic adjustments that will impact access to campus. In May, The Virginia Department of Transportation closed the Appomattox River Canal Bridge for repairs. The bridge provides direct access from Petersburg to VSU.

The thousands of participants who plan to attend the events during Homecoming week, October 8-14, 2023, will NOT be able to access campus from Petersburg via the bridge. While the road will be blocked due to the repairs, pedestrians can still use a footpath to cross the river, but there is no parking in the area.

The best way to access the campus will be through Colonial Heights to the campus North Gate in Ettrick. The South Gate or Petersburg entrance will be open to traffic from Chesterfield Avenue on Friday and Saturday of Homecoming weekend.
