The Center for Creative and Entertainment Arts (CCEA) is a dynamic interdisciplinary hub dedicated to fostering innovation, research and creative endeavors, and entrepreneurship within the arts and entertainment industries. Our multifaceted approach encompasses research opportunities, workforce development initiatives, and support for budding entrepreneurs seeking to make their mark in the creative landscape.

The development of the center aligns with the VSU strategic plan and emphasizes the pursuit of “Preeminence with Purpose,” through the creation of improved synergies with existing academic programs and expanded offerings in the creative and entertainment arts and sciences.

The CCEA seeks to assess the current and future state of the Music and Entertainment Industries through the development of innovative student-centered programming and research. Additionally, the Center actively promotes and advances the knowledge of Black and African American artistic traditions and its contributions to the national and international artistic and entertainment industries landscape..

Mission

Trojan Entertainment, Arts and Media (TEAM) Lab

To train future leaders within the creative and entertainment industries, the Center has developed the Trojan Entertainment, Arts and Media Laboratory (TEAM Lab). As a student interdisciplinary arts/management project, the goal is to promote student excellence, leadership, skill-based knowledge acquisition and to encourage community building. The key is to present students with teaching and learning experiences that foster opportunities to explore a variety options and career paths that are aligned with their strengths and interests.

The TEAM Lab creative management and entrepreneurial venture seeks to provide university students opportunities to see first-hand the daily intricacies of the arts and entertainment industries. This integrated curricular approach builds on a communal foundation of inclusiveness wherein student interaction with peers as well as university faculty and staff are valued.
