Research or Teaching Interests

Dr. West’s research interests revolve around predicting, explaining, and preventing interpersonal aggression and community violence. He is primarily interested in the social, interpersonal, and neurocognitive factors that facilitate and constrain of proactive and retaliatory aggression. Dr. West also studies the assessment antagonistic personality traits (e.g., psychopathy) and the organization of personality traits more broadly. Dr. West directs the Personality and Social Systems(PASS) laboratory (HM 103S), which recruits undergraduate research assistants every semester from within the department.
