Ms. Parker’s social work career has expanded for more than 45 years in direct services and higher education. This includes experience in child and family welfare services serving in the capacity of social worker, supervisor, and liaison with public and private service agencies. She served as the Liaison for Richmond Department of Social Services and the Richmond Juvenile and Domestic Family Court working collaboratively with several Judges and Attorneys coordinating services. This included the interpretation, application and evaluation of program policies and procedures of Family Services, Foster Care and Adoption programs for social workers, juvenile justice workers, mental health workers, foster and adoptive parents as well as attorneys.
Ms. Parker currently serves as President of the Social Work Department Advisory Board, Admissions Coordinator for the BSW Program and Advisor to the student Association of Black Social Worker’s. She is a member of the National Association of Black Social Workers, the Council of Social Work Education, and the Association of Baccalaureate Social Work Program Directors.
Ms. Parker serves as President for the MIMOSA International Foundation of America (MIFoA), a non-profit (501c3) organization committed to providing educational opportunities for disadvantaged children and families, in underserved villages and communities in Africa, North America, South America, and the Caribbean.
Ms. Parker attended school during the years of segregation (separate and not equal). She became one of 13 to integrate the public schools in New Kent County, Virginia as a result of the landmark case 'Green vs New Kent Board of Education'.
