Virginia State University Adds Two On-Campus Residence Halls for Students Currently Living in Hotels
The Orange House and The Blue House will provide on-campus housing for 40 students beginning November 1.
Virginia State University has transformed the two former education buildings on Fourth Avenue into residence halls. The newly renovated spaces, named The Orange House and The Blue House, will house a total of 40 male students who are currently living in area hotels. The students will move into the buildings on November 1. The move will allow more students to live on campus and take part more fully in the daily life of the University. “We know how much the on-campus living experience means to our students,” said Dr. Alexis Brooks-Walter, Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President for Student Success and Administration. “We want to accommodate as many students as we can who want that experience. Transforming these buildings into residential spaces is one way we can think creatively about the campus we have and bring more students closer to the people, resources, and opportunities that support their success.” The Orange House and The Blue House are the latest additions to VSU’s housing options. Earlier this semester, the University opened Magnolia Hall, a new residence hall that added 454 beds to its on-campus housing capacity. Together, the projects give more students the chance to live, learn, and connect on campus where Greater Happens Here.
