Virginia State University Issues Lockdown, All September 11 Classes And Activities Canceled

VSU remains on lockdown as we continue to prioritize the safety of our students, faculty, and staff.

Dear VSU Community,

Virginia State University remains on lockdown as we continue to prioritize the safety of our students, faculty, and staff. VSU Police, in coordination with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, is actively investigating the credibility of the threat received earlier today.

Please note the following important updates:

  • No injuries or incidents have been reported in connection with the threat.
  • The campus remains on lockdown until further notice.
  • Meals will be provided to students residing in VSU-managed housing. Students will receive detailed instructions via a separate email.
  • Everyone on campus should limit their outdoor movement except for essential activities.
  • All afternoon classes are canceled.
  • All afternoon extra-curricular activities are canceled.
  • Additional security personnel are present on campus and are also monitoring all VSU-run off-campus housing locations.

We ask all members of the VSU community to remain vigilant—if you see something, say something. Suspicious or criminal activity should be reported immediately to the VSU Police Department at (804) 524-5411.
