President Abdullah Welcomes Students For Spring 2025 Semester

Dear Fellow Trojans,
I am thrilled to welcome you to the Spring 2025 Semester at Virginia State University. To our returning students, I commend you for coming back refocused and reinvigorated after a well-deserved winter break. To our new students, welcome to the Land of Troy. You will quickly find that VSU is a place where GREATER Happens Here and where opportunity awaits you at every corner. I encourage each of you to embrace your time here and the many resources available to support your success.
As we begin this new semester, I recognize that a new year brings both excitement and uncertainty. I want to assure you that VSU stands firm in its legacy of excellence and resilience. Our Trojan community is one of the most united and determined I have ever known. Together, there is no challenge we cannot overcome and no goal we cannot achieve.
This year, we remain steadfast in our mission to provide affordable, quality education to all who seek it, continuing to honor the vision of our founder, Alfred W. Harris. As we celebrate the 143rd year of this remarkable University, we look forward to the completion of the Alfred W. Harris Academic Commons Building later this year—a testament to our commitment to innovation and investment in your future.
We also remain deeply committed to your safety, which is always our top priority. However, safety is a shared responsibility. We can maintain a secure and thriving community by staying vigilant and looking out for one another.
With your return to class on Tuesday and yesterday’s snow day, I wish you all the best in your academic pursuits. Remember, you are here to earn your degree and to lay the foundation for the person you aspire to be. Surround yourself with peers who inspire you, take advantage of career advancement opportunities, and focus on achieving your goals—because graduation will be here before you know it.
