Virginia State University To Receive Portion Of $1 Million Health Innovation And Research Grant

VSU is one of five HBCUs awarded $200K to support health-related and STEM field projects. 

Virginia State University (VSU) is one of five HBCUs in the country to be awarded $200K for visionary projects focusing on health-related research. The $1 million grant is sponsored by the Propel Center, a global HBCU technology and learning hub. The grant is designed to support world-class research and innovation opportunities for faculty and students. 
  
In addition to the funding, VSU will have access to Propel Impact Industry Mentors. This team is available to help develop curricula and provide ongoing mentorship, learning support, and internship opportunities.

The five grant awardees are: Virginia State University, Harris-Stowe State University, the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore, Morehouse School of Medicine and Cheyney University. 
  
Supported by Apple, this grant will ensure that the Universities have access to vital virtual and in-person learning experiences in health-related research. Intended to provide new opportunities for the current and future workforce, the Health Innovation & Research Grants support work in STEM fields, data science, and machine learning-artificial intelligence.
