Services

Women's Health

Student Health Services (SHS) provides education about women's health care.  The nurse practitioner provides routine gynecological care, including an annual pap smear beginning at age 21.  Other services include diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases, contraceptive counseling and prescriptions, pregnancy testing, and information on disease prevention.  For more information or to schedule an exam, please call SHS at 804-524-5711.  Refer to the following web-sites for current information on Women's Health.

Lab Testing

There is a charge for all lab services including: pregnancy testing, throat cultures, and other lab services that are sent out for testing. Charges will appear on your student account after services have been rendered. If desired, you may bill your health insurance for laboratory testing and pay according to your health insurance plan. Lab results are usually available in 24-48 hours.

Pharmacy Guidelines

Prescriptions are written by the physician or nurse practitioners during their office hours and are given to students to have filled at any drug store or pharmacy.  Student Health does not dispense prescribed medications; however, some over-the-counter samples are available.
