Fall 2018 Student Accomplishments

(1) Mohamed Keita (Accounting major) earned a full-time position as a consultant at Deloitte in Arlington for after graduation in May.   

(2) Guy DeWeever (Marketing major) and Jahwon Taylor (MISY major) participated in a networking event with scores of professionals at the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond. 

(3) Destiny Hodges (Marketing major) shadowed Dave Saunders (CEO) of Madison + Main in Richmond.

(4) Destini Woods (Management/HR major) shadowed Dennis Bickmeier (CEO) of Richmond International Raceway in Richmond.

(5) Diamond Fayton (Marketing major) and Madison Muldrow (Marketing major) participated in the Richmond Advertising Club networking session with twenty businesses in Richmond.

(6) Shanice Allonce’s internship with Def Jam Records materialized in a post-graduate internship/job offer for after May.

(7) Manny Saunders (Management major) represented the College of Business and Virginia State University at the Dominion Power the Future intercollegiate competition at Virginia Commonwealth University last weekend; a 38 hour competition, Manny was part of a team of four in the event with universities including e.g. VCU, VA Tech, Penn State, etc.  

(8) Barry Brown (Management major), Jean Cain (Management major), Onzae’ Carter (MISY major), Destiny Hodges (Marketing major), Charly Mitchel (Marketing major), Joshua Pritchett (Management major), Sadonia Sylvester (Accounting major), Rebekah Taylor (Management major), Javae Terrell (Management major), Corey Vickers (Marketing major), and Nadia Victor (Accounting major) participated in the Thurgood Marshall College Fund Conference in D.C. with scores of businesses.

(9) Sixty students in Legal, Ethical, and Digital hosted Jason Walker (Vice President of Transportation Management) from UPS in the classroom.  A big thanks to Taneisha Brown her hospitality.

(10) Three students in Small Business Entrepreneurship hosted Shirley Crawford (Executive Director of the Women’s Entrepreneurship Center in Richmond) in the classroom.  A big thanks to Patrice Perry-Rivers for her hospitality. 

(11) Fifteen students in the American Marketing Association along with fifteen students in Investments hosted Sam Hayes (Owner of Stratageum) in the classroom.  A big thanks to Steve Holeman for his hospitality. 

(12) Manny Saunders (Management major) participated in the Young Non-Profit Network’s networking event with forty non-profits in Richmond.

(13) Seventy students participated in U.S. Forestry Day including hosting Sylvia Staples (Regional Recruiter) in Principles of Marketing.  A big thanks to Yun Lee for her hospitality.

(14) Seven students in Introduction to Computer Networks hosted Diamond Simpson (Associate Software Developer) at SITA in the classroom.  A big thanks to Soma Akkaledevi for his hospitality.

(15) Nasir Porter (Accounting major) was the Top Performer in Small Group Role-Play with Industry as assessed by Union Bank & Trust, Advia Naturals, Fort Lee Federal Credit Union, Virginia Community Capital, and Crystal Clear Financial Solutions.

(16) Essence Bridges (Marketing minor), Jahard Cooper (Management/HR major), Tyeshaun Harris (Management major), and Angela Scott (Management major) participated in the Career Connection conference in New York.

(17) Chanel Brown (Marketing major), Charly Mitchell (Marketing major), Seth Mitchell (Management major), Liz Mosely (Marketing minor), Sadonia Sylvester (Accounting major), Rebekah Taylor (Management major), and Nadia Victor (Accounting major) represented the College of Business on the College’s Homecoming Float at the parade in Petersburg.

(18) Thirty-two students participated in a roundtable conversation in Singleton with alums representing the FDIC, Allmond & Company, Department of Health, etc.

(19) Twenty students in Business Communications participated in a tree planting at Virginia State University.  A big thanks to Alex Weimer for his leadership.

(20) Shaylan Ferguson (Accounting major) participated in a luncheon at the Commonwealth Hotel at the Capitol; said luncheon regarded a conversation with economists pertinent to business trends and the Governor's recent proposals.

(21) Fifteen students in the Future Business Leaders of America PBL Chapter hosted an entrepreneurship panel conversation including Pam Allen (Owner of Accel Talent and Development), JB Bryan (Owner of JB Bryan), Jenee Murphy (Owner of Jenee Murphy Consulting), and Mike Short (Owner of Pro).

(22) Kedar Ra El (Management major) participated in a Supplier Diversity Entrepreneurship networking event with thirty businesses at the University of Richmond.

(23) Ten students participated in interviews for a paid internship for the spring semester with Liberty Tax.

(24) Corey Vickers (Marketing major) started his business by flipping his first house for sale located in the City of Petersburg.

(25) Teciara Gambrell (Accounting major) was the Top Performer in Small Group Role-Play with Industry as assessed by Timmons Group, Southside Regional Medical Center, The Coleman Institute, Winter HR Consulting, Wildfire, The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, City of Richmond, Thomson Reuters, Dominion, KPMG, Liz Bryant, and Meadows Urquhart Acree & Cook.

(26) Liz Mosley (Marketing minor) shadowed Kelly Avelino (Reporter) at NBC.

(27) Ten students hosted Ryan Bolais (Vice President) of Thomson Reuters for a conversation regarding marketability.

(28) Monique Daniels (Accounting major) earned a paid internship in accounting from Dominion for the summer; now she has to decide between that offer and an offer from Pricewaterhousecoopers.   

(29) Adante Holliman (Marketing major), Sultan Kenes (Management major), Tiffany Tucker (Management/HR major), and Montrell Wynn (Marketing major) spent part of the week in Chicago at a Beta Gamma Sigma conference.

(30) Sadonia Sylvester (Accounting major) earned a full-time position for after graduation at PricewaterhouseCoopers; now Sadonia has to choose between that offer and a KPMG offer.

(31) Christine Bautista (MISY major) and Amira Sine (Management major) participated in Project Shadow at Pfizer in Richmond.

(36) Walter Boateng (Accounting major) was the Top Performer in Small Group Role-Play with Industry as assessed by Cobb Technologies, PPD, Metropolitan Business League, Withum, Capital One, Century Construction, and Morgan Stanley.

(37) Essence Bridges (Marketing minor) participated in a dinner with Bill Hollowell (Vice President) of Century Construction.

(38) Sefiyetu Abdullah (Marketing minor) and Chanel Brown (Marketing major) participated in a reception hosted at the house of Marty Barrington (recently retired CEO) of Altria along with twenty other businesses.

(39) Myia Jones (Marketing major) earned a full-time paid position for after graduation in May as a consultant at Deloitte in Atlanta.

(40) Destiny Hodges (Marketing major) and Corey Vickers (Marketing major) earned paid internships for the summer with Altria in Richmond.   

(41) Erica Pickens (MISY major) joined the ranks of homeowners by purchasing a lot in Matoaka to build her dream house. 

(42) Guy DeWeever (Marketing major) and Jujuan Peel (Management major) participated in a negotiations workshop with forty businesses in Richmond.

(43) Bethelhem Beza (MISY major) and Jahard Cooper (Management/HR major) participated in the Hopewell/Prince George Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner with ninety businesses.

(44 Forty students in Organization and Management hosted Tom Walker (Consultant at OpX) in the classroom pertinent to a team project led by Shaylan Ferguson (Accounting major).  A big thanks to Mark Kunze for his hospitality.

(52) Thirty marketing majors launched a Google Analytics project in collaboration with the College’s Center for Entrepreneurship to provide free services to the following companies; Binary Formations, Focus and Fabulous, Urban Views Weekly, SMN Squared, Choza, Brison, Focal Path Coaching, Petersburg Chamber of Commerce, Traveling Teacher, Girls for a Change, Plush Slippers, Hopewell Downtown Partnership, Re-Runner, Chesterfield Chamber of Commerce, K. Moss & Associates, and Hofbauer Consulting.

(53) Tamairah Marshall (Accounting major) earned a paid summer internship in finance at Johnson & Johnson in California.

(54) Nadia Victor (Accounting major) earned a paid summer internship in finance at Prudential in New York; Nadia also earned a visit to Charlotte next month to participate in a Wells Fargo conference.

(55) D’Anjela Jones (Management major), Jujuan Peel (Management major), Tamia Reese (Management major), Destiny Smith (Accounting major), and Aishata Wann (Accounting major) participated in the Richmond Folk Festival with scores of businesses as VIP guests of Venture Richmond.  

(56) Manny Saunders (Management major) participated in the Madison + Main Chili Cook Off with forty businesses in Richmond.

(57) Thirty students in Legal, Ethical, and Digital hosted Lee Stewart (Director of New Programs) from Synexis in the classroom.  A big thanks to Taneisha Brown her hospitality.

(58) Fifteen students in Small Business Entrepreneurship hosted Taliah Safah (Owner of Sister Taliah’s) in the classroom as a part of Women’s Entrepreneurship Week.  A big thanks to Patrice Perry-Rivers for her hospitality. 

(59) Five students hosted in Small Business Entrepreneurship hosted Doris Edmonds (Owner of Doris L. Edmonds Attorney at Law) in the classroom as a part of Women’s Entrepreneurship Week.  A big thanks to Patrice Perry-Rivers for her hospitality. 

(60) Barry Brown (Management major) and Javae Terrell (Management major) earned full-time consultant positions at Deloitte for after graduation in May. 

(61) Corey Vickers (Marketing major) earned a $5,000 scholarship from Wells Fargo. 

(62) Cyrus Jones (Accounting major), Darius Fair (MISY major), Seth Mitchell (Management major), and TreNique Phillips (Management major)  the Top Performer in Small Group Role-Play with Industry as assessed by State Farm, EdwardJones, EAB, Morgan Stanley, Binary Formations, Mass Mutual, SMN Squared, and Wilkie Real Estate.

(63) Monique Daniels (Accounting major) was invited to participate in the Deloitte Leadership Conference in Dallas.

(64) Tiffany Tucker (Management/HR major) was invited to participate in the Ph.D. Conference in Chicago.

(65) Tamarah Varner (Management major) visited with Thaddeus Huff (President) and Wert Smith (Chair) at the Petersburg Chamber of Commerce and earned an internship.

(66) Monique Daniels (Accounting major) and Kaylee Lambert (Marketing minor) were the Top Performers at the Miss Kappa Alpha Pageant.  

(67) Monique Daniels (Accounting major), Unique Lotman (Accounting major), and Miesha Webb (Accounting major) interviewed for a summer internship at Dominion.

(68) Twelve students in the American Marketing Association (AMA) hosted Kayleigh Crandell from the Richmond Advertising Club.

(90) Jahwon Taylor (MISY major) was flown by Capgemini to Atlanta to interview for an interview for a full-time IT consulting job for after graduation.

(91) Guy DeWeever (Marketing major) was flown to Charlotte by the Urban Financial Services Coalition (UFSC) for a National Speech Competition and Conference.

(92) Angelique Johnson (MISY major and 17 grad) earned a new position as a Referral Specialist at Advocate Health Care in Illinois.

(93) Katherine Wilson (Management major and 14 grad) earned a new position as a Senior Consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton.

(104) Erica Pickens (MISY major) earned an IT Help-Support position with Aldi and a put a contract on a parcel of land to build a house.

(106) Tamairah Marshall (Accounting major) modeled in the New York Fashion Week in Times Square.  

(107) Sydney Yao (Marketing minor) interviewed for a full-time manager-in-training position for after graduation with Aetna and with GAP’s corporate division.

(108) Elijah Huett (MISY major) interviewed for a full-time IT position for after graduation with Computer Resource Team.

(109) Sixty students participated in the VSU Career Exo.  A big thanks to Joe Lyons and Career Services.

(114) Kire’ Worley (Accounting major) won the National African-American Insurance Association’s (NAAIA) JL Tillman Scholarship; this is the second time a VSU student won the scholarship after Monet Graves (Marketing major and 17 grad) won it two years ago. 

(115) Essence Bridges (Marketing minor), TreNique Phillips (Management major), and Jahwon Taylor (MISY major) were the Top Performers in Small Group Role-Play with Industry as assessed by Fulton Bank, NY Life, HMG Data, Enteros Design, Enterprise Virginia, and CW Richmond.

(116) Liz Mosley (Marketing minor) participated in both a HYPE networking event in Richmond with forty businesses and an American Marketing Association event in Richmond with sixty businesses.

(117) Twenty students in Entrepreneurship for Small Business hosted Ellen Luckey (Owner of Victoria’s Kitchen) in the classroom.   A big thanks to Patrice Perry-River for her hospitality.

(118) Ninety students participated in Lockheed Martin Day including hosting Beverly Walker (Recruiter) in Organization and Management and participating in a luncheon.  A big thanks to Mark Kunze for his hospitality.

(125) Onzae’ Carter (MISY major) earned a new paid IT internship in cyber security at Thomson Reuters in Richmond for the summer; it will be year two for him there.

(126) Rachel Ajibolade (MISY major) earned a full-time position for after graduation in December as a IT Consultant at Capgemini in D.C.

(127) Paris Cort (Accounting major) earned the Virginia Society of CPA’s Accounting Excellence Scholarship for the year.

(137) Shamara Russell (Accounting major and 17 grad) earned a new position as an Audit Associate at Brown, Edwards & Company in Newport News; Shamara had been at Dixon, Hughes and Goodman and before that at KPMG.

(138) Aneja Padgett (Marketing major and May 18 grad) has been admitted to graduate school at LIM College in New York City to study fashion.

(139) Mahogany Smith (Management/HR major and December 17 grad) earned a full-time position as a Recruiter at Aerotech in New York City not terribly far from her home.

(140) Aishata Wann (Accounting major) earned a paid internship as a Tax Preparer at Liberty Tax in Colonial Heights.

(141) Kire’ Worley (Accounting major) so impressed the folks at Bank of America yesterday in his shadow visit that he was offered a full-time position as a Wealth Manager for after graduation next month.
