Training & Support

The VSU to Canvas Team will offer various resources to help faculty, staff, and students learn how to use Canvas and its tools effectively. These resources can be valuable in ensuring a smooth online learning experience.

Here's a brief overview of each of the options mentioned:

  1. Training Classes: Formal scheduled training led by Canvas Champions in various delivery formats to introduce foundational Canvas concepts, functions, and hands-on practice for all end users.
  2. Drop-in Office Hours: This is an informal way for individuals to get one-on-one assistance or ask questions about Canvas and its features. Faculty, staff, and students can "drop in" during specified hours to receive help from knowledgeable support staff or instructors. It's a flexible and accessible option for those who need immediate assistance.
  3. Small-Group Training Sessions: These sessions are typically more structured than drop-in office hours. They involve a small group of participants who can receive focused training on specific Canvas features or workflows. Small-group training allows for more in-depth learning and interaction with the instructor.
  4. Online Tutorials: Online tutorials can take various forms, such as video tutorials or written guides. They provide step-by-step instructions on how to use different aspects of Canvas. Tutorials are usually accessible 24/7, making them convenient for self-paced learning.
  5. Help Articles: Help articles are written resources that provide information, tips, and troubleshooting guidance related to Canvas. They are typically organized by topic or feature, making it easy for users to find answers to their questions or solutions to common issues.

By offering these diverse options, the VSU to Canvas team VSU Distance Education program aims to accommodate different learning preferences and needs. Users can choose the resources that suit them best, whether they prefer immediate assistance, structured training, or self-paced learning through tutorials and articles. This approach can enhance the overall experience for both instructors and learners using Canvas for online, face-to-face, and hybrid education.
