Students completing their degree requirements at Virginia State University receives a Bachelor of Science degree. Upon completion of the Didactic Program in Dietetics, students must complete a supervised practice program, such as an ACEND-accredited dietetic internship, to become eligible to take the registration examination for dietitians to become a registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN).
State Licensure for Dietitians
Virginia does not have state licensure for dietitians at the current time. Other states in which you might practice may require you obtain a state license as a dietitian/nutritionist before you are allowed to practice. Information on state licensure requirements is summarized by CDR on their state licensure page at www.cdrnet.org/state-licensure.
