USDA Scholarship Opportunities

USDA 1890 SCHOLARS PROGRAM

Program Overview

The USDA/1890 National Scholars Program is a partnership between the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and Virginia State University.

The program targets high school students accepted at one of the nation's 1890 Historically Black Land-Grant Institutions, as well as rising college sophomores and juniors. The scholarship provides full tuition, fees, books, room and board to students seeking a bachelor’s degree in agriculture, food, natural resources and other related sciences. The scholarship may be renewed each year, contingent upon satisfactory academic performance and normal progress toward a bachelor's degree. The scholarship opportunity may also include work experience at USDA.
