Campus Ministry

Welcome Trojans!  As you embark upon your journey of learning, discovery, and growth here at Virginia State University, know that there will be many experiences that will expose you to the joys, pains, triumphs, sorrows, blessings and vicissitudes of life.

Hence this is a most exciting, yet challenging time which leaves student sojourners asking, "What will the next four years bring for me?"  "What am I going to do with my life?"  If faith is a central element of your value system, you may be wondering, "Where am I to see God in all of this?"

As you are on this journey and ponder these questions along with many others, come be a part of United Campus Ministries at Virginia State University. We are a home of Vitality, Spirituality, and Unity!  Come and allow us, along with your friends and compatriots, to travel with you. Together, we can address these questions and seek to discern them collectively. You don't have to walk alone.  We are waiting to meet you and invite you to join our fellowship.

"You don't have to walk alone."

Special Interests: In addition to our regularly scheduled events, we are also involved with efforts to revitalize the community, feed the hungry, and provide spiritual support and leadership for the future. Some of the organizations that we have been connected to include:

  • Petersburg Urban Ministry: An organization providing innovative and creative methods to uplift Petersburg.
  • Walk Against Hunger: An effort in association with Downtown Churches United, to recruit walkers, participate in the Annual Walk, and collect food for needy families.
  • American Cancer Society: An entity providing cancer awareness and preventative offerings in the community.
  • Voter Registration Drives: United Campus Ministries' hope is that every student will be a registered voter and participate in the democratic process. We work with SCLC & the NAACP in their efforts to educate voters.

Exam Break: During the exam periods of the school year, we offer our study breaks for fellowship, nourishment, and relaxation.  An hour of food, beverages and laughter to break the tension and replenish your spirit!  Kick back a little from 7:30 to 8:30 pm in Foster Hall.

Annual Banquet: In April, we celebrate what God has done at VSU by inviting our supporters to come have dinner with us and meet some of our students.  This event is a catered meal upstairs in Jones Dining Hall.  Community leaders and students come together over dinner in a gala atmosphere. You do not want to miss this!
