Advising Policy and Student Support

To ensure consistency and fairness in the advising process, academic advisors are equitably assigned to students by the Chair of the Computer Science Department. This structured approach helps maintain a balanced advising load across faculty members and ensures that all students receive appropriate guidance.

Advisors play a critical role in supporting students throughout their academic journey. As a Computer Science student at VSU, your faculty advisor will help you:

Every student is assigned an academic advisor in his/her field of study beginning in the freshmen year. Additionally, student mentors are available to individually meet with students and assist with coursework and other campus resources.
