Learning a second language can not only be fun, but can give you an edge in today's world, which is heavily focused on global understanding. Many government agencies and businesses specifically seek employees who are bilingual. Learning a second language can also teach you about another culture, and even help you understand your own a little bit better. Being able to communicate in another language can make traveling abroad easier and more fun, and with your new language skills, you might even make some new friends from other places.
If you are interested in studying another language at VSU, you can study Spanish, French or Arabic. You also have the option of declaring a minor in either Spanish or French.
Spanish Minor
Students in any school at Virginia State University may declare the Minor in Spanish. The Spanish Minor requires 18 semester hours. A grade of “C” or above must be earned in any course counted toward the minor.
