Financial Services Manager I

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Office of Financial Reporting is seeking applications for the position of Financial Services Manager I.  This position will develop a corporate style of financial reporting, to include the monthly coordination, collection, analysis, and formatting of a wide variety of financial and statistical reports, and other information deemed necessary to report the financial condition of the University; and, how the University is performing against established performance standards; will prepare financial information for annual IPEDS, and EMMA Disclosure; will assist with the preparation of the Annual CAFR Attachments and University Financial Statements, to include footnotes, and other schedules by established due dates in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles established for institutions of higher education; will assist with the preparation of the Annual NCAA Report; will prepare other reports and data as needed; will prepare work papers with appropriate references for sufficient audit trail; will assist with the automation of financial reports to enhance efficiencies; will perform selected special analyses and studies as may be required by senior management; and will identify critical performance factors and measures, to include but not limited to, ratio analyses and comparative data.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Considerable knowledge of college and university accounting and reporting requirements and generally accepted accounting principles is required; considerable knowledge of fiscal and accounting functions and operations; considerable knowledge of the use of PC software applications, data processing techniques and automated accounting systems; must have knowledge of financial administration and internal control systems;  demonstrated ability to apply and adapt to established accounting methods to a variety of agency or institutional fiscal needs; demonstrated ability to perform tasks that require critical/strategic thinking skills and possess excellent analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills; demonstrated ability to assemble, analyze, and prepare financial reports and statements covering complex financial data; demonstrated experience in oral and written communication skills, to include public speaking, the ability to work in a team environment; the ability to establish work schedules and goals to accomplish the objectives of the position; demonstrated work experience in developing policies and procedures; and the ability to develop and make effective presentations to management.  Graduation from an accredited college or university with major studies in accounting or related curriculum or an equivalent combination of training and work experience is required. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

CPA preferred.  Experience working with the Banner System and/or State Cardinal System is a plus.
