Library Specialist I
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This position reports to the Acquisitions Librarian and is located in the Acquisitions Unit of the Technical Services Department and will perform a variety of acquisition tasks to include but not limited to: processing/reconciling new receipts; the physical processing of new materials and ensuring quality control of incoming processed materials; maintaining files of all materials ordered/received; and the processing of theses and dissertations. The person in this position is expected to be knowledgeable and experienced in the specific library function(s) comprising their job assignment and to participate on cross-functional teams and/or library projects, or committees where their special skills can be applied beyond their specific job assignment.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: High school graduate required. Must have considerable knowledge of office practices and procedures; demonstrated proficiency using word processing and spreadsheet applications, preferably MS Office Suite; must have strong organizational, writing, communication, and customer service skills must have considerable social media experience; must have keen attention to detail and the ability to prioritize workload and be able to work independently with little supervision is required; and must be willing to work a flexible work schedule, to include an occasional evening and rotating weekend assignments.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and/or equivalent combination of training, education, and work experience is preferred. Experience working in a library and/or university setting is strongly desired.
