Cynthia Jones is a professional flutist and private teacher in Maryland, DC, and Virginia. She graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in Music from Morgan State University and received her Masters of Music in Flute Performance from Shenandoah Conservatory. Ms. Jones has studied privately with Jonathan Snowden, Dr. Frances Lapp Averitt, and Dr. Anita Thesen. She has performed with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Baltimore County Music Educators Wind Symphony, Kappa Kappa Psi/Tau Beta Sigma National Intercollegiate Band, and many others. She is a founder and the ensemble coordinator and director for Anita’s Flutes, a flute ensemble based in Baltimore, Md. She has 20 years of playing and performance experience of all genres as well as 12 years of private and group flute instruction ranging from the elementary to college level. She is currently the flute professor at Virginia State University where she teaches private flute lessons and is the director of the flute ensemble. She has also taught at and conducted master classes at Hampton University and Morgan State University. Jones performs at many different venues and events and is a flutist in the Petersburg Symphony Orchestra.
