Post-Doctoral Research Associate
Plant Genetics/Plant Physiology
Agricultural Research Station
College of Agriculture
The Agricultural Research Station at Virginia State University (VSU) seeks a postdoctoral research associate to study physiology, genetics and genomics of Purslane BAG6 (PoBag6) mediated heat tolerance in crops. The position is a 12 month research position renewable for up to 3 years depending on performance.

The position will lead and implement a newly funded USDA-AFRI project. The major responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to, the following: physiological characterization of transgenic lines of Arabidopsis, maize and soybean overexpressing PoBAG6 gene on their heat tolerant related parameters; dissecting genetic relationship between PoBAG6 in heat tolerance at genomics level through transcriptome analysis; and identifying physical partners that directly interact with PoBAG6 in Arabidopsis. The incumbent will collect, summarize and statistically analyze data and prepare posters, PPTs and manuscripts related to the project for conference presentation and publication.
