9-Month, tenure-track, faculty position (Assistant/Associate Professor/Program Coordinator) in the Department of Music beginning Fall Semester 2018.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will serve as Coordinator of the Music Education program teaching courses in music education for elementary and secondary instrumental music education majors. As program coordinator, the selected individual will assist with the advising of undergraduate music education majors as well as supervision of student teachers, foster relationships with local school districts for student teaching placement and any other duties as assigned according to the candidate’s qualifications and the program needs.
Other responsibilities include, conducting relevant research in the discipline, recruiting and retention of students, and serving on university, departmental and school committees. Additional duties include promoting the Department at campus and community functions, promoting and maintaining professional responsibilities of the department and other duties assigned by the Department Chairperson.
An Earned Doctorate in Music Education or equivalent. Strong candidates who are ABD and nearing completion will also be considered. Evidence of completion of the doctorate must be provided prior to the appointment date. A minimum of two years teaching experience at the collegiate level; evidence of teaching experience at the pre-K-12 level; evidence of record of scholarship in music education or the potential to develop an ongoing program of research in music education; knowledge of national standards for music education; knowledge of national and state level policies and regulations as related to professional education licensure/certification;
Teaching experience in a music department accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music. (NASM)
