DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in Fashion Merchandising/Apparel Design, Textiles, Production and Management; will exhibit expertise in the practice, history and theory of Fashion Design, Merchandising, Production and Management while engaging with students and colleagues across a range of other disciplines; will advise undergraduate students; will participate in curriculum development; will utilize pedagogical methodologies to stimulate students’ interest in all facets of the program; will conduct a consistent program of research; and provide leadership as a faculty advisor for student groups, while participating on departmental and University committees.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

A Master’s degree in the field of Fashion Merchandising, Design, Textiles, and Management or equivalent is required.  Demonstrated ability utilizing pedagogical methodologies to stimulate students’ interest in all facets of the program; must possess a strong and comprehensive teaching record along with experience teaching and advising at the collegiate/university level; demonstrated knowledge and experience teaching courses in Fashion Merchandising/Design, Textiles, Apparel Production, and Management; demonstrated knowledge of the Family and Consumer Sciences discipline and/or experience working in a Family and Consumer Sciences Department or equivalent; a proven record of experience cultivating and maintaining apparel industry contacts; and experience in educating a diverse student population is required.

Preferred qualifications

An earned terminal degree in the field of Fashion Merchandising, Design, Textiles and Management or equivalent is preferred. Experience in curricula development and management, along with work experience in the fashion industry are preferred.
