The Department of History and Philosophy at Virginia State University wants to hire a tenure-track assistant professor with the appointment beginning Fall 2018 semester.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Successful candidate will teach up to 12 semester hours of undergraduate history courses with specialization in African-American History. Other duties include: serving on departmental, school and university committees; recruiting and advising students, research and scholarly endeavors and other functions assigned by the department chair.
Must possess a PhD in History. ABD may apply but must have Ph.D. completed prior to appointment. Successful candidate must have a strong and appropriate record of college teaching, student advising, research, scholarship and service/outreach. Must have the ability to teach related courses in African-American History.
Ability to teach World History surveys and U.S. History surveys is a plus.
