Information Technology Specialist III
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This position provides a high level of technical and project management expertise to ensure the application of communications technology and aids in the achievement of organizational goals and objectives. This position provides technical leadership for the voice communications technologies including VOIP, Voicemail, Computer Telephone Integration (CTI), IR, and Intelligent Call Distribution (ICD) connections with user environments, daily VOIP and Voicemail operations, carrier data/voice circuits, ICD, network capacity and performance while also handling a;; change requests and problem resolution. This position develops and updates technical documentation related to all Unified Communications Systems. This position works with departments to design, develop, test, and deploy custom solutions while providing project management responsibility for any new VOIP implementations, including creating schedules, assigning tasks, managing outside vendors, and ensuring projects are completed on time and on budget with no negative impact on business operations. Keeps management apprised of project status with accurate and timely information. Works on multiple technical projects in a multi-platform environment. This position serves as the secondary support for data network including routing, switching and wireless. Installs, configures, and maintains data network hardware, operating systems, and applications that reside on multi-platform systems. Performs all other duties associated with the administration of the data network as required to ensure service delivery. Maintains inventory tracking, reporting, and quality assurance of Telecommunications Service Requests (TSR), performance statistics and billing support. Participates as a team lead on disaster recovery tasks as it relates to the Unified Communications IT Disaster Recovery Plan and Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP). Performs tests of failover systems to ensure successful recovery of hardware and software. Monitors availability of all failover systems and components. Ensures data backups are operational and perform test restores of data on a scheduled basis. Performs other related duties as assigned by Deputy Chief Information Officer (CIO), Deputy CIO of IT Operations, and/or Lead Network Services Engineering in order to fulfill the organization’s mission.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field and/or equivalent experience. Experience in a broad range of telecommunications, network, server, and desktop systems, including:
Telecommunications Carrier Services- Toll Free, Long Distance, Analog and TDM Circuits, ISDN PRI and BRI, IP Trunking, IP Video/Voice
Network- VOIP, SIP, Voicemail, ICD, CTI, IVR
Routing Protocols- MGCP, H.323, H.264, QOS
Data Center- HP, Dell, Cisco Server hardware
Desktop- Microsoft Operating Systems, Microsoft Office Suite, Internet Explorer, Firefox, Secure CRT
IP Data Network- Cisco routers, Juniper switches, Wireless Access points and network monitoring tools
The candidate must possess strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills and the ability to quickly analyze data and problem solve.
