DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

We seek a dynamic, committed, purpose driven candidate for our SharePoint Administrator (IT Technology Specialist III) position.
The University is under new leadership and as a result, is currently enjoying a surge in the number of its’ incoming students. The SharePoint Administrator position ensures that the administrative computer systems effectively support the business objectives of Virginia State University
The SharePoint Administrator serves as administrator for all Intranet/SharePoint projects to include: preparation of project documents from initiation to project close-out, updating and maintaining the overall Intranet sites and ensuring that business partners and internal colleges/departments adhere to SharePoint standards, design, and content, ensures that VSU is operating the most current release of SharePoint and proper training is completed when new releases are implemented, and monitors SharePoint trends (to include: site usage, growth as well as disk space usage and growth).
Directs VSU Information Technology (IT) projects from definition and planning through to completion ensuring deadlines are met, project goals are achieved, and projects are completed within established budget guidelines. Provides the senior management and functional team leads with periodic status information, based upon the schedule, including schedule variances. Maintain risks and issues tracking logs and generate periodic project performance metrics, in coordination with the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK).
The SharePoint Administrator ensures that VSU is compliant with Virginia Information Technology Agency (VITA) standards are followed and that the University is current with the recent release of SharePoint. Keeping abreast of changes in technology to ensure that the best solution for the University’s students, faculty and staff.
The SharePoint Administrator works directly with the CIO to provide project level reporting of costs, schedules, and performance measures by using project management tools. Coordinates and organizes regular team meeting and periodic reviews, and responsible for associated meeting documentation, such as action items and progress updates. Support the project quality assurance and configuration management processes. Facilitate the dissemination of information to end-users and stakeholders, as part of the overall communications and change management process.
Bachelor’s degree with equivalent combination of education and experience required in project management; considerable years of experience planning and managing all aspects of Content Management and SharePoint/Intranet Administration. Demonstrated ability to direct and manage small to mid-size scale IT projects in an organized or disciplined manner. Ability to work independently and as a member of a team for the completion of IT projects. Ability to multi-task. Proficient in Microsoft SharePoint and Content Management. Well organized and capable of tracking, managing, and resolving issues on multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent written and verbal communications at all levels (senior management, technical/business-oriented project staff, users and stakeholders). Strong business analytical skills.
Master’s degree highly preferred, extensive IT experience preferred. Experience working in a higher education environment.
