Human Resource Analyst II
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To provide consultative and analytical compensation and classification expertise to the University. Provide research, reporting and information to assist in organizational decision making and overall compensation program management. Serves in a supervisory or lead HR capacity and subject matter expert in the administration of broad human resource retention and reward programs. Interprets Commonwealth of Virginia policies and makes recommendations on compensation policy and procedural changes.
Primary duties include: Consultation with hiring managers, design and approve salary actions; organizational salary analysis and reporting; maintenance of compensation records and organizational structures; provide consultation and training to the university community on performance management practices and policies; act as senior employment specialist for assigned roles and provides HR generalist duties as required.
Comprehensive knowledge of federal and state policies governing State of Virginia classification and compensation for classified, hourly, faculty, faculty administrator and student employees. Extensive knowledge of federal and state employment laws, including FLSA and overtime rules, including for 24-hour positions, and FMLA. Extensive knowledge of HRIS systems and the accurate inputting of salary information into University (Banner) and State of Virginia systems (PMIS). Knowledge of payroll processing, pay cycles and various types of University pay designations and classes. Knowledge of recruitment practices and new hire pay determination. Must be able to interpret and analyze a variety of data and reports to access comparable data.
Demonstrated ability to consult and counsel in a logical and fair manner with a variety of leadership customers. Must be able to communicate in a clear and consultative manner, including negotiation skills. Considerable demonstration of general HR practices and HR best practices. Supervisory, training or facilitation and process improvement experience is desired.
Graduation from a college or university with coursework in public administration, business administration, human resources, or a related field, or the equivalent in HR experience and compensation experience.
Experience working in HR at a University is preferred.
