Academic Enrichment: Programs, activities, and events that complement student's academic experiences and support the delivery of classroom instruction. Students learn to develop effective organizational skills, improve study skills, establish time management regimens, and set realistic, attainable academic goals, establish time management regimens, and set realistic, attainable academic goals.
Student Development: Activities
and programs on effective conflict resolution, peer meditation training and
conflict resolution management, problem solving and decision making , values
clarification, building confidence, maintaining self- esteem, and improving
communication skills and interpersonal relationships.
Aerobic Room: Located in the basement of Foster Hall. Established to promote
healthy living habits amongst students, faculty and staff.
Cafe': Located on the first floor of Foster
Hall.
Commuter Student Lounge:
Located on the second floor of Foster Hall, Room 202. To provide a place
for commuting students to relax between classes and after school.
Computer Lab: Located in Room 206 of
Foster Hall. To provide students with access to technology/software to
assist in the educational process.
Conference and Meeting Rooms: Rooms 101, 111, 210 and 211 in Foster Hall
provide various groups, both on and off campus, with areas for meetings, conferences,

Freshman Student Parking Permits:
Freshman students who wish to operate and park a vehicle on campus must fill
out a Freshman Parking Request Form which can be picked up at the information
desk located on the first floor of Foster Hall. All applications must
be turned in to Mr. Landy Watson in Room 304 Foster Hall.
Games Room: Located in the basement of Foster Hall. Various table games,
recreational, and leisure activities are offered to students.

I.D. Card Center: If at the time of registration students do not update or obtain an I.D., they should report to Room 204 in Foster Hall. If at anytime during the school year an I.D. card is lost; report to Room 204 in Foster Hall to apply for a replacement.
Intramurals & Recreation: Virginia State University offers facilities an resources which enables students, faculty, and staff to participate in intramural spots and recreational tournament. Basketball, flag football, aerobics, softball, volleyball, pocket billiards, ping pong, chess, checkers, horseshoes, and card tournaments are some of the activities provided to validated students, faculty and staff. This program contributes to students' overall educational experience at Virginia State University.
Judicial Affairs: The Judicial
Affairs office is located in room 306 Foster Hall. Should you need additional

Peer Mediation: Peer Mediation is a student oriented, voluntary process
through which student mediators assist students in conflict to resolve a dispute
amicably. Peer Mediators are trained in the mediation process and are certified
as Campus/University Peer Mediators. Peer Mediation encourages active listening
and honest communication and helps the parties examine possible solutions. Students
who are interested in becoming Peer Mediators should contact the Office of Judicial
Affairs of the Director of Student Activities.
Riverview (Virginia State University's Yearbook): The Riverview
is an annual publication that gives written and pictorial history of the events
that occur during the year. The yearbook is co-edited by students under the
supervision of the Director of Student Activities. It is usually available to
the student body prior to the end of the second semester. After the students
receive their copies, the book is then available to faculty, staff, alumni,
and others for a fee. The office of the Riverview is located in Room 401 Foster
Hall. If you should have any questions or concerns about this publication, Sandra
Williams, the advisor, can assist you at (804) 524-5516 or in Room 202 Foster
Hall.
Shuttle Van Service: The Shuttle Van is to be used for the transportation of validated Virginia State University Students to and from South Park Mall. This van departs from campus at 3:00pm, 5:00pm., and 7:00pm Monday through Friday. All students who which to use this service should meet in the lobby of Foster Hall 5 minutes proper to the departure times above.
Student Activities Council: This council is the governing body over all student organizations on campus.
Student Government Association:
The Student Government Association is open to all students. Students can
become involved in the SGA in the following two ways:
1. By election to the office of
class representative, student body president or vice president
2. By volunteering to serve on
one of the SGA Standing Committees

Virginia Statesman: The Virginia Statesman, the student newspaper id
the principal student publication on campus. The Director of Student Activities
is the controller of its operation.
In addition to providing a forum for the expression of student views, the Statesman also serves as an extended laboratory for the Languages and Literature department, affording students an opportunity to develop and employ writing, critical thinking, organizational, management and leadership skills.
An editorial board serves as an oversight body to ensure that each edition of the Statesman is quality controlled and truly represents the Virginia State University and its student body. The board's composition includes staff, faculty, and students and alumni.
