We have dozens of organizations that serve a broad spectrum of interests. Selecting the right one may seem overwhelming, however, this section is designed to guide you.
Below are the categories of interests, and each contains a comprehensive listing of our sanctioned student organizations. If you have an interest in an organization that is not listed, please contact Lanae Dowe at (804) 524-5517 or email@example.com for further information.

A Word on Sanctioned Organizations
A sanctioned organization means that it is recognized by the University. VSU recognizes a sanctioned organization as one that has demonstrated the ability to operate as a coordinated, ethical, purposeful and mission-driven entity and has agreed to follow the Organization Code of Conduct and rules and regulations of the institution. A sanctioned organization must satisfy a number of requirements, including acquiring an on-campus advisor, attending annual organization meetings orientation, submitting annual reports, agreeing to abide by the Universities Student Code of Conduct and Student Organization Code of Conduct, completing education on acceptable behaviors and activities, serving on the Leadership Council and undergoing a yearly evaluation.
These organizations enjoy access to VSU facilities, personnel, free event planning consultation and marketing resources for events and activities, among many other benefits.
If you decide to participate in an organization that has been deemed “unsanctioned”, be advised that the University cannot attest to nor monitor its purpose, activities and leadership.
If you lead or serve an unsanctioned organization, be advised that your group cannot utilize VSU facilities for meeting space, submit requisitions, request monies from the Department of Student Activities, market your event or service on campus, and vote during the Leadership Council meetings. We strongly encourage you become an affiliated, sanctioned group. To begin the process, please contact Lanae Dowe at (804) 524-5517 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
