Technology Management.

Industrial Technology

Industrial Technology is the field of study designed to prepare technical/ management-oriented professionals for employment in industry, business, education, and government establishments. The main emphasis is Drafting and Design Technology. Industrial Technology degree program is geared toward careers involved with the application of theories, concepts, and principles found in the humanities and the social and behavioral sciences, including a thorough grounding in technical communication skills. The program also deals with the application of concepts derived from, and current skills developed in a variety of technical and related disciplines which may include, but are not limited to, materials and production processes, industrial management, drafting and design, human resources management, graphic communications, and electronics technology.

Technology Education

The technology education curriculum is designed to prepare young men and women as teachers of technology at the secondary level (6-12, as required by the Department of Education, Commonwealth of Virginia). The curriculum deals with tools, materials, processes, products and occupations of modern industry. A broad survey of the history, quality, and techniques of production in various industrial media is followed with concentration in at least two of the following major industrial areas: communications, construction, manufacturing, and power and transportation. Graduates who complete the technology education curriculum meet the requirements for certification to teach technology education in the State of Virginia and in most of the other states.

Technology Management

The Technology Management Program, Technology Education Non-Endorsement program, is designed to prepare young men and women as supervisors and managers in one of the production settings of processing, manufacturing and construction. The program deals with tools, materials, machines, equipment, products, processes, occupation and management of modern industry.   Graduates who complete the Technology Management Curriculum will be qualified to enter the workforce as an industry management trainee or as front line supervisors/managers in a production setting.
