Lady Trojans Premier in USA Today/ESPN Poll

The Virginia State University women's basketball team has been ranked 62nd in the nation in the first USA Today/ESPN D-II women's basketball poll of the season.

This marks the first time the Lady Trojans, coached by James Hill (above) have appeared in the pre-season poll since the 2002-03 season.

Shaw University, Johnson C. Smith University and Bowie State University are the only other CIAA schools in the poll.

Hill became only the third Lady Trojan coach to reach the 20-win plateau when he guided VSU to a 21-8 record last season.

The Lady Trojans tip off the 2009-10 season on November 16 against Chowan University in Murfreesboro, N.C.
