POSITION NUMBER: FO062 - Twelve month position
SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with Education and Experience
APPOINTMENT DATE: Fall 2010
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Department Chair reports to the dean, and works along with others in the School of Business in coordinating the overall administration of the School. The Department Chair provides leadership in a number of areas and is responsible for development, administration, coordination, and promotion of academic programs, as well as preparation of course schedules. The chair is expected to stimulate and facilitate excellence in all aspects of departmental functioning, teach undergraduate courses, participate in scholarly endeavors, and provide academic advisement. He/She will also provide effective representation of the department within the school, across the university, and to external constituencies. The appointment could be made as early as January 1, 2010.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Qualified candidates must hold a PhD in accounting and demonstrated credentials to be qualified for tenure at the rank of full professor in the Accounting Department. The chair is also expected to be a leader in attracting and retaining excellent and diverse faculty, staff, and students. Effective teaching and scholarly accomplishments consistent with the teacher-scholar model and AACSB accreditation, and university and professional service and industry outreach are also expected.
