Washington and Willis Tour Europe with USAAI

Virginia State University's Chris Washington (left) and Leon Willis (right) have just returned from a tour of Europe with the USA Athletes International (USAAI) men's basketball team.

Washington and Willis played five games in London, Paris, Ostend (Belgium), Amsterdam, Nijmegen (Netherlands) and Ultrecht (Netherlands).

The tour lasted from June 2 through June 10.

While on the tour, Washington, Willis and the rest of the USAAI squad rode the London Eye (Europe's biggest ferris wheel), then travelled via the Eurostar Bullet Train to Paris, where they visited the Eiffel Tower.

The group also viewed the dark side of world history with a visit to the infamous Breendonk Concentration Camp, which is now a national landmark in Belgium and houses a well-known Human Rights Memorial.

USA Athletes International, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to giving amateur athletes and coaches the opportunity to participate in international Olympic-style sporting events throughout the world, while also allowing them to broaden their educational and cultural knowledge of the world through the experience.
