DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Serves as Agricultural Technician for VSU's Demonstration and Research Farm and cooperating farm sites; operates farm machinery, lawn/garden equipment, and vehicles in daily operations; perform general maintenance on farm equipment, machinery, and vehicles; adhere to established maintenance schedules; fix minor repairs; assist in land preparation, planting, irrigation, harvesting, and maintenance research, demonstration, and commercial crops at Randolph Farm and cooperating sites. Maintain grounds, grooming, and facility maintenance as needed by grass cutting, weeding, grading, landscaping, pruning, repairs, painting and clean-up. Prepares areas for special events, meetings, deliveries, and other activities as directed by Farm Manager. Successful candidate must have positive courteous interaction and communication with University personnel and visitors to Randolph Farm.

QUALIFICATIONS: Must have working knowledge of horticultural and row crop production practices; must have demonstrated proficiency in operations and maintenance of farm machinery, implements and vehicles are required. Previous farm work experience in areas of equipment operations and maintenance, planting, harvesting of crops are required. Must have ability to operate various hand and power tools are required; must be able to work effectively alone or as a team player with minimal supervision is required. Effective oral and written communications skills are essential. High school diploma or equivalent is required. Pesticide application license is preferred.
