Corey Sullivan
Assistant Football Coach
 Corey Sullivan is entering his first year as offensive coordinator at Virginia State University.
Sullivan comes to VSU from Hampton University, where he spend the past two seasons as offensive coordinator and four years as wide receivers coach.
Sullivan had a great impact on the receiving corps at Hampton, producing two all-conference selections and helping Marquay
McDaniel and Onrea Jones earn invitations to the 2007 NFL combine, where they went on to be listed on NFL rosters at the Denver Broncos and the Indianapolis Colts, respectively. Under Sullivan’s direction McDaniel closed out his career by breaking Hampton’s single-season records for receptions (59) and touchdown catches (14). The 2007 season was a positive one for Sullivan where he had the number one scoring offense, number one passing offense and number one red zone offense in the MEAC.
Sullivan’s direction led red-shirt, Senior Jeremy Gilchrist to break the single-season receiving record with 1,043 yards, single-season records reception with (69) and the only player to record a 1,000 yard season. Red-shirt Junior Terry “Tj” Mitchell to break Hampton’s single-season passing yards with 2,309 yards. Gilchrist and Mitchell went on to be All- MEAC along with Dennis Conley, as an offensive lineman.
A four-year letterman at Tennessee State, Sullivan was a two-time All-Ohio Valley Conference receiver for the Tigers. During
his senior campaign, the Miami, Florida native was an All-American and Spirit Award candidate. Following his days at TSU, he went on to spend the 2000 season as free agent wide receiver with the Buffalo Bills, in addition to playing with several Arena League teams. Sullivan, who earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology
in 2002, returned to his alma mater in 2004 to coach the wide receivers.
