Objectives
The T-STEM at Virginia State University is a highly comprehensive project. The aim of this project is to enhance the VSU stem infrastructure. To accomplish its purpose, the project is seeking to:
– Increase opportunities for student involvement in research, both for undergraduate and graduate students
– Provide training opportunities for faculty, staff, and students.
– Investigate options for instructional delivery that will enhance student learning
– Provide adequate resources to facilitate research and scholarly activities
– Create faculty incentives for research
– Support faculty development to incorporate appropriate instructional technology into instructional methods.
The project is set to achieve the following specific outcomes:
- To increase the number of graduates in VSU STEM degree programs by 100% (from average of 70 to140) within five years.
- To increase the academic performance of the STEM students by 20% (from 2.5 to 3.0 or higher) within 5 years.
- To increase the number of students who competitively gain admission to STEM graduate degree programs by 25% in next five years (from 12 to 16).
