Welcome to the Virginia State University President Search Committee website. With the impending retirement of President Eddie N. Moore, Jr., the Board of Visitors has launched a search for a new President. A fifteen member search committee has been named. I am pleased and honored to chair the committee undertaking this most significant responsibility on behalf of the Board of Visitors. We hope that this website will be helpful in our quest to keep all University constituencies and other interested persons informed of the search process.
At this point the committee has held its initial meeting and received the charge from the Rector on behalf of the Board of Visitors. A Request for Proposal (RFP) for a search consultant was issued in March and the committee has begun consideration of the proposals submitted. The search consulting firm will assist the committee in identifying three to five highly qualified candidates for the office of President of Virginia State University that will be recommended to the Board of Visitors.
The entire committee is dedicated and committed to successfully completing this awesome task prior to President Moore’s scheduled retirement in June 2010. He has set the bar at a very high level for his successor, but with the assistance of all of our concerned and committed alumni, students, faculty, and community we are confident that several outstanding candidates will be identified and the final selection will result in a new President who is ideally suited to lead Virginia State University.
In the coming weeks, we will refine the search timeline and develop a process for soliciting input regarding the desired attributes in the next VSU President from all constituents. This information will be posted to this site so please continue to visit the site to stay informed.
