Student-Athlete Profile: Greg Hunt
Virginia State University's Greg Hunt's reason for coming to VSU is simple.
"My mother attended here," he wrote.
The senior from Chesapeake, Va., may have come to VSU because of his mother's being here, but his achievements on the golf course are all his own.
Hunt is the number-one golfer on the Trojans this season, and he hasn't disappointed. He won individual honors in the VSU Invitational and the VSU Round-Up. He finished third at the CIAA Western Division Tournament and also third at the CIAA Eastern Division Tournament.
Last season, he led the Trojans to the school's first CIAA Championship.
"My goal is to turn pro," Hunt said earlier this season.
Not surprisingly, Hunt lists Tiger Woods as his favorite athlete, and lists putting as his best skill.
"I want to be known as someone who is cool, calm, relaxed and funny," Hunt wrote before the start of the year.
But as important golf is to the Nansemond River High School product, the acadmics of VSU are just as important.
"I want to graduate with honors," he wrote.
Hunt is on schedule to graduite with a degree in sports management this May,
