Hiring Salary Range: Commensurate with education and experience up to $40,000
Duties and Responsibilities: This position reports to the University Archivist in the special Collections and Archives Department of the University Library. Under the direction of the University Archivist, this position will assist with all aspects of archival operations to include: processing collections and material for the department; implementing digital technologies, preparing finding aids; expanding departmental presence on the web; preparing exhibits; assisting with research and reference demands; and, managing operations in the absence of the Archivist. The position will also require the supervision and training of student assistants.
Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in Library/Information Science from an ALA accredited program or MS in History. Coursework or equivalent work experience in archival management and current advances in electronic information storage technology. Some knowledge of archival principles and methodology. Experience in special collections or archives in a university or research library preferred. Knowledge of preservation and conservation practices. Demonstrated working knowledge of EAD, digitization technology, and content management programs. Proficiency in MS Office applications. Excellent organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. Excellent interpersonal skills, with a strong focus on service orientation.
