15 Exam week

You are asked to take on the role of an African American in history (this includes contemporary people) and to give a brief dramatic monologue pretending you were her/him. Preceding this monologue, you need to provide the class with a brief historical background overview about the person and the times in which this person lived and worked. This presentation of an African American in history must be based on your research about her/him, including :
a. the use of at least two historical sources (unless the person you choose is still alive, lives in the vicinity, and can be interviewed by you);
b. basic background information on the person;
c. an independent evaluation and discussion of his/her contributions/significance/roles;
d. background on the social/political/historical context in which this person lived and worked. The presentation should last 10-15 minutes. (20% of total grade)
