Duties and Responsibilities:The individual will coordinate & teach the introductory general biology lecture and laboratory courses for majors and non-majors. Other duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to strengthening the biology education curriculum and courses, providing academic advisement, participating in scholarly endeavors, conducting and publishing research in the area of biology education, recruiting student and writing proposal for enhancing biology education. Candidate must be able to prepare for NCATE reports as required and serve on the departmental, school and university committees.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have a Ph.D. or an Ed.D. with a graduate degree in biology and teaching experience in a biological field at the college level and preferably high or middle school level. The candidate must demonstrate outstanding potential for excellence in teaching; laboratory program development; commitment to innovative teaching approaches and the creative use of instructional technology including the use of Blackboard and web based technology. The successful applicant will have the potential or demonstrated ability to generate an externally-funded research program in science education using undergraduate and graduate students in the area of Biology education.
