DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Extension Faculty/Specialist holds appointments in the Cooperative Extension Division of the School of Agriculture at the University. The incumbent in this position will be responsible for providing leadership in developing, implementing and evaluation Greenhouse Vegetable Production, Greenhouse management and High Tunnel Horticulture Crop Production. The incumbent will act as state-wide extension and public contact for greenhouse vegetable production and protected culture of horticulture crop0s. Writes and publishes research articles and extension publications. Seeks grant funding from various funding sources to help support research and education efforts. Plans, designs, establish, maintain, and evaluate horticulture research and demonstration projects in expertise area at Randolph farm and farm locations. Manages 1 – 3 full and/or part-time employees and student workers.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. preferred. Earned Masters Degree in Horticulture, Agriculture, Biology or related field. Minimum of 10 years experience in greenhouse production and 5 years in research and extension programming... Minimum of 5 years experience in horticulture crop production. Possession of Certified Commercial Category 10 Pesticide Applicators license. Knowledge and experience of extension methods, publication development and experience working with limited-resource and diverse audiences. Demonstrated ability to secure grant funding; to conduct general horticulture research including experimental design, data collection, analytical processes, and statistical analysis; and, to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. Skill in the use of computers and applicable software.
