Defensive Coordinator

Errick Hargrove is entering his third year as Defensive Coordinator and his sixth season at VSU.

In 2007, VSU was ranked 1st in the nation in fumble recovery, 1st in the CIAA in turnover margin and 15th nationally, and 1st in the CIAA in turnovers and 17th nationally. VSU had two defensive players to make All CIAA honors, linebacker LaQuentin Milo and defensive back Andre Lipscomb.

In 2005, He spent a season at Shaw University coaching the defensive backs, where he coached All CIAA performer Torrance Nunnally.

Before going to Shaw, Hargrove was the graduate assistant and coached the defensive backs from 2002 to 2004 at VSU. During this time, he coached defensive backs like Sean Wade, Pierre Lee, Kenneth Painter, and Keith Johnson who all received All CIAA honors.

Prior to coming to VSU, Hargrove was a three-year starter at Winston-Salem State University from 1998-2001. During his time at WSSU, he started on the 1999 and 2000 CIAA Championship teams and also the 1999 Pioneer Bowl Champion team. He was selected All-CIAA in 2000.

Hargrove received his bachelor’s degree in Sport Management in 2002 from Winston- Salem State University. He received his Master’s of Education in Counseling Education from Virginia State University in 2005.

Hargrove is a native of Middleburg, N.C. He is married to former Lacresha Tally of Henderson, N.C.
