The Academy for Faculty Development is designed to provide customized, university-wide opportunities for full-time and part-time faculty and staff to interact with colleagues as they enjoy professional growth.  To that end, a wide variety of collaborative faculty/staff development training programs (e.g., seminars, workshops), research projects, and other activities will be featured on a regular, year-round basis.

Every activity is linked to the ultimate goals of improving the quality of instruction and administrative support at Virginia State University. The Academy for Faculty Development's key areas of emphasis are:

  • The enhancement of in-class and out-of-class teaching strategies
  • The enrichment of research and other scholarly activities
  • The development and incorporation of new instructional technologies  
  • The augumentation of units' internal and external service goals
  • The provision of continuous development programs for faculty and staff

ADMINISTRATION AND STAFF

Through the direct leadership of Judy Marchand-Hampton, VSU's Chief Information Officer, the Academy for Faculty Development is one of the academic units that is governed by the  Interim Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs, Dr. Weldon Hill.  Dr. John R. Holmes serves as the Acting Director for the Academy for Faculty Development.
