DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist faculty and students in setting up laboratory and field equipment. Responsible for cleaning, sterilizing, and maintaining laboratory equipment and work areas; collect specimens from appropriate resources; weigh, analyze, and measure ingredients used for testing; prepare samples for testing and analysis; enter test results into computerized databases and/or data entry books. Operate and maintain laboratory equipment; prepare orders for laboratory equipment and supplies; and compile data for equipment maintenance records in a computerized program.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrated ability setting up, cleaning and autoclaving laboratory equipment, and maintaining laboratory inventory. Demonstrated ability working with small laboratory animals. Demonstrated ability maintaining a small animal colony, including feeding and watering animals; cleaning the cages; and maintaining records in accordance with NIH Standards. Demonstrated knowledge using arithmetic and algebra to solve problems. Demonstrated ability using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. Demonstrated ability communicating effectively both orally and in writing.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Course work in Biology or related field.
