DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The position reports to the Chair of the Department of Engineering and Technology. Serve as the Department’s Distance Education Administrator, to include but not limited to, coordinating and administering the distance education facilities, inspecting, maintaining, monitoring upgrading systems, and assigning passwords and network/system access. Additional duties include coordinating and implementing the Distance Education infrastructure, which includes evaluating the effectiveness of services provided and recommending changes in procedures to meet users’ needs, working with vendors, university facilities and the Office of Technology and capital outlay to develop drawings, written specifications, purchase orders and work orders. The successful candidate will provide needs assessment analysis for distance education infrastructure requirements and assist in selecting and procuring related software and hardware components. Responsibilities also include providing technical support for the Warehouse Management System associated with the Logistics Program, serving as the technical liaison for the logistics industry, advising students, and serving on departmental, school, and university committees. Candidates are also expected to develop proposals related to Distance Learning.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Considerable knowledge of digital/networking and electronic testing equipment. Demonstrated ability to utilize sophisticated electronic testing equipment. Demonstrated ability to install, repair, and configure data/computer systems, including computer servers, network peripherals, print servers and stand-alone operating systems. Comprehensive knowledge of the correct use of precision hand tools is essential. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, orally and in writing is required. Knowledge of online course delivery hardware and software such as Sonic Foundry’s MediasiteTM software is desired. The successful candidate will have demonstrated ability to work with persons from culturally diverse backgrounds. Applicant must have a Bachelors of Science in Engineering or a closely related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
