DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:   Coordinate state-wide field activities of the Agriculture Management Agents of the Small Farm and Technical Assistance Program. Serve as the principal program and agricultural resource for the field staff. The incumbent shall provide administrative and technical expertise in support of daily activities to include workshop development and implementation, research and development of training materials. Plan, develop and implement a statewide training on agriculture risk management strategies, reporting system changes and computer skills development in usage of appropriate software applications for project staff and clients.  Provide leadership in planning and coordinating regional workshops, conferences, field tours and other special program activities for socially disadvantaged farmers, landowners and Agriculture Professionals who work with underserved audiences.
 
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Working knowledge of major crop and livestock enterprises, production practices, and farm business management principles and practices. Working knowledge of USDA farm programs including the loan process. Skill in the use of personal computers including word processing, spreadsheets, database management, presentation and graphic applications. Demonstrated ability to work with small and disadvantaged farmers; to plan, develop, implement and, deliver comprehensive agriculture education programs for adults in formal and informal settings; to establish and maintain close working relationships with a broad variety of individuals, groups and organizations; to develop, market and promote program goals and objectives. Demonstrated ability to communicate with individuals and groups that work with socially and economically disadvantaged people; and, to write reports. B.S. in Agricultural Science and a Masters degree in Economic Community or Human Resource Development are preferred or equivalent combination of education and training.
