Admissions Process Instructions

Submit the following items in your application packet:


1.    A separate application to the Department of Nursing which includes:

       a.  A letter of acceptance from the Virginia State University Office of Admissions.

       b.  A two-page typed, double spaced essay entitled, "My Vision of Nursing"

       c.  Transfer students, please submit an official transcript (directly from the 
            college/university )of all previously attended colleges, directly to the Department of 
            Nursing with your application.        

       d.   Results of criminal background/sex offender background report.  The form is 
             available at www.virginiatrooper.org.

       e.   American Heart CPR for healthcare providers.

        f.  Completion of the Arithmetic Pre-Test offered in the Department of Nursing.

2.     In addition to completing the above, CURRENTLY ENROLLED STUDENTS  must submit a 
        transcript of all completed coursework from Virginia State University.

3.     Currently enrolled students should have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better in all

        pre-requisite coursework.

4.     Transfer students should have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or better in all pre-requisite coursework.

5.     The complete application and supporting documents should be submitted as a unit to:
